Labelled insane, Catherine is overjoyed to be finally deemed well enough to leave behind the cold, clinical walls of the lunatic asylum. Seeking refuge in a quaint cottage in a pretty village in Cumberland, everything suddenly seems so perfect.

When perusing the numerous books on the shelves of the cottage, she stumbles across someone’s diary. The mysterious author alludes to an ancient secret, a treasure hidden within Edenvale, which the villagers have vowed to protect. When people go missing in the dead of night, Catherine worries for her safety and her sanity.

Unsure who to trust, she questions why two men pursue her hand in marriage. She worries for the man who knows nothing about her past, but she is oblivious to the fact that the other man knows everything about her.
