Chris G. Wright [Christos Gardikiotis] was born in Corfu, Greece in 1988 to a Greek father and an Irish mother. They were the owners of a humble cocktail bar close to the seaside, back in the day when ABBA were still big and neon lights and hairspray were still “in”. He considers himself lucky to have experienced the last two years of the 80s, even if he was probably just sucking on his thumb at that time. Growing up at that era meant that his imagination was fed by the progenitor Sci-fi movies, the likes of E.T., Star Wars, Alien, Blade Runner, and, of course, his father’s storytelling. His love for the written word derived from his mother’s abundance of novels; usually any kind of fiction and from a plethora of authors. Ironically, she never went anywhere near the Science Fiction and Fantasy reads. “Not my cup of tea” she would often say, though Chris had already been gripped by those genres thanks to authors R. A. Salvatore and Peter F. Hamilton. Instead of joining the Air Force, which had been his ultimate dream as a teenager, he studied Marketing, and, to contribute toward his student finances, he worked nights as a bartender shaking up cocktails. But, he always found time to read, and not necessarily for academic purposes. The work of Peter F. Hamilton, and later John Scalzi, and Joe Haldeman, paved the way for a preference toward Sci-fi. Inspired to write short space operas, he gradually broke away from Fantasy. With writing being a hobby since the age of 13, and even though English wasn’t his first language, family and friends finally persuaded him to try his luck with self-publishing a post-apocalyptic space opera draft of 400 pages that he had started halfway through 2013. Since February 2016, that draft gradually became his debut novel, The Alliance. Chris now lives in England with his beloved partner, Meaghan, though they travel the world whenever the opportunity presents itself, and that usually involves a motorcycle. He dedicates his free time in pursuit of flourishing as a Science Fiction author, hoping to inspire readers of the genre with fresh concepts and gripping stories. He also hopes that one day he’ll live in a cabin in the countryside and write full time.
