    Recognised as one of ‘the greatest Irish writers of the twentieth century’ (Dwight Garner, New York Times) Edna O’Brien, DBE is a bestselling novelist, memoirist, playwright, poet and short story writer. She has written over 20 novels, including her most recent novel, Girl, set amid the atrocities of Boko Haram which was published in September 2019.

    She has also written over five works of drama and four works of non-fiction including her memoir, Country Girl. Edna O’Brien is the recipient of many awards including the Irish Pen Lifetime Achievement Award, the American National Art’s Gold Medal and the Ulysses Medal. Born and raised in the west of Ireland she has lived in London for many years.
