Sheila Kinninmonth

Born and brought up with the stories and traditions of Fife, Sheila loves telling stories to audiences of all ages. With a wide repertoire from all over the world, she particularly loves telling Scottish folk and fairytales, in Scots when appropriate.

For younger audiences, Sheila tells traditional and original stories in a fun interactive way with plenty of opportunity to join in, have a laugh and help the story along by using songs, rhymes, actions and props. With a background in early years education, she believes storytelling is a vital learning tool for all children, not only helping meet many curriculum outcomes, but also passing on our rich heritage and culture. Sheila gets invited to speak to a wide range of adult groups where she adopts a more traditional style, introducing them to local tales of characters and events which inhabited the landscape of Fife in days gone by, from her book, Fife Folktales.

She has been instrumental in establishing storytelling for family audiences at many local events where she continues to perform year on year, both on her own and in collaboration with other storytellers, developing specific programmes of stories for each event.
