Based on the fourth edition of the popular printed guidebook, this fixed-format ebook respects the original full-colour page layouts. It enables instant cross-references, searchable text and web links. “Robust, comprehensive and enjoyable: an essential companion for anyone wanting to tackle the Rob Roy Way.” Undiscovered Scotland
The Rob Roy Way became one of Scotland’s Great Trails in 2012 and our fourth edition was fully revised in 2021 with route changes, new large-scale mapping, revised route directions and fresh photographs.
The route runs for 79 miles (127 km) from Drymen to Pitlochry along some of Scotland’s finest lochs and glens, using historic footpaths, a cycle route, forest tracks and some minor road. Many places are linked with Scotland’s most famous outlaw, Rob Roy MacGregor (1671-1734). It offers superb scenery, and gets you away from the crowds following the West Highland Way.
This guidebook contains all you need to plan and enjoy the Rob Roy Way:
• detailed directions and mapping for walkers and cyclists
• each section listed with distance, terrain and food/drink
• 8-page section for the route extension via Amulree
• visitor attractions, side-trips and hills to climb
• planning information for travel by car, train, bus or plane
• background on Rob Roy MacGregor, Scotland’s most famous outlaw
• prehistory, history, heritage and wildlife
• new custom mapping on 18 pages at 1:50,000
• in full colour, with 111 colour photographs.
