Wasted Years

A series of armed and very nasty robberies keeps tugging at Charlie Resnick’s memory, pulling him back to a time he would rather forget. Ten years ago, when Charlie was still a young cop, a rash of very similar robberies brought him face-to-face with a shotgun-toting sociopath who came that close to punching Charlie’s ticket. Ten years ago, the city he polices nearly self-destructed as urban riots swept its streets, leaving behind a pervasive despair. And ten years ago, Charlie’s wife put paid to an already faltering marriage, running off with her lover and leaving Resnick with a house full of memories and a psychic wound that has yet to heal. Ten years ago, Charlie acted like a cop when he should have acted like a man. Now, faced with the escalating violence of these look-alike robberies and a surge of memories he cannot stem, Charlie fights to apprehend the perpetrators even as he struggles with a past that threatens him with more than bodily harm.
