Cathie Hartigan lives in the beautiful, historic city of Exeter. Although her professional training was in music, a decade ago she swapped one keyboard for another in order to take her life-long love of writing more seriously. Since then, she has won several prizes for her short stories.
Her first novel, Secret of the Song was in the final three for the Dorchester Literary Festival Prize and her second novel, Notes from the Lost was shortlisted for the 2020 Selfies Book Awards and a finalist in the Page Turner Awards. The opening of her latest novel, The Luthier’s Promise, received a silver medal in the First Chapters competition at the 2024 Historical Novelists Association conference.
Cathie lectured in creative writing for nine years at Exeter College. She is the founder of CreativeWritingMatters and The Exeter Novel Prize. When not writing, Cathie sings in a small vocal ensemble. The beautiful Devon coast and countryside also provide plenty of distraction.
